Final Fantasy XVI has yet to be released on platforms other than the PlayStation 5, but according to rumors circulating online, Square Enix has more in the works than the announced PC port.
Speaking on the ResetERA forums, well-known leaker NateDrake talked about the latest main entry in the series coming to Xbox consoles, saying that it is going to happen without adding much more. While next week’s Gamescom would be perfect for an announcement, the fact that the PC port has yet to receive an official release date suggests that Square Enix may wait a little longer to make an announcement.
Final Fantasy XVI coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S wouldn’t exactly be surprising, considering Square Enix and Microsoft collaborated for Final Fantasy XIV release on the consoles. Naoki Yoshida himself confirmed that they would like to make the game available for as many people as possible, heavily hinting at the unannounced Xbox version of the game.
Final Fantasy XVI is now out on PlayStation 5 and should be released on PC before long. You can learn more about the latest entry in the series by checking out Kai’s review.
Final Fantasy XVI heralds in a new standard for Japanese role-playing games and while the RPG components themselves are limited by Square-Enix standards, it’s the narrative and gameplay that exceed all expectations. What begins with kingdom-wide subterfuge and destruction ends with a world forever changed and the player, as Clive Rosfield and Ifrit together, are the driving force to see it all through until the end.
