Fingersoft COO Ville Rauma has left the Finland-based Hill Climb Racing developer after 11 years.
The exec first joined the company in 2014 as a full stack developer and product owner. He later became COO in 2016 and also briefly served as acting CEO between July to December 2019.
During his time at the company, it grew from one live game and 12 staff to several titles in its portfolio and a team of 100.
In a LinkedIn post, Rauma said he would be taking time off in the short-term. He added that in future his options include joining a startup or founding his own company.
Rauma’s departure comes shortly after Fingersoft appointed Teemu Närhi as its new CEO. He previously served in the role between 2014 to 2019. Former incumbent Jaakko Kylmäoja has joined the developer’s board of directors.
“Making it happen”
“I haven’t yet had enough time to properly process what this means to me but I have a great feeling of gratitude towards all of my fellow Fingersoftians and partners who I’ve worked with over the years,” said Rauma.
“I am a much better person and professional than the one who walked in through the door in 2014 and that is mainly due to the people who I’ve worked with throughout the different stages of the company.
“I’ve been mentored, coached and challenged in countless ways and I’ve always tried to be as open and curious as possible to learn everything I can in the time I have and to improve the company in the process.
“When I started we had one live game, and 12 people. During my time Fingersoft has created several live games, doubled annual revenue and built a full-service game studio of 100 professionals who are able to conceptualise, create, launch and maintain high quality games at a scale of millions of daily players and have done so systematically over a decade.
“That success is not coincidence or luck, rather it’s a result of everyone showing up every day and making it happen.”
