fpPS4, the popular PC PlayStation 4 emulator, can now run over 140 games.
Back in October of 2022, we wrote about this PlayStation 4 emulator, which, at that point, could run around 25 commercial titles. Several months after that, in December of 2022, we reported that the team managed to get the first 3D PlayStation 4 title running on the emulator. Fast forward a little over a year, and the team behind this promising emulator has updated the compatibility list, revealing that fpPS4 can now run 144 PlayStation 4 titles (thanks Dsogaming). We say “run” as in that the emulator now allows users to actually go in-game. Out of these 144 games, 98 games are playable at this point. This is great progress for the emulator although it should be mentioned that the playable games include titles such as Sonic Mania, Forager, Super Meat Boy, Shantae and the Pirates Curse, Tiny Troopers Joint Ops, and other lower-demanding games.
At the moment of writing, out of the 1080 PS4 games mentioned, the emulator is able to “boot” 280 games (more than 16%), so there’s still plenty of work to do for the team behind the project.
fpPS4 isn’t the only PS4 emulator around – we also have the RPCSX PS4 emulator from the team behind the popular RPCS3 emulator.
More information about the open-source fpPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator can be found on the project’s blog here. We’ll update you as soon as more information about the fpPS4 emulator comes in.
Released in 2013, the PlayStation 4 is one of the best-selling consoles of all time, only being bested by the Nintendo Switch and Sony’s PlayStation 2 (as well as handhelds Nintendo DS and Game Boy). As far as we know, Sony managed to sell over 117 million units of the console worldwide.
