- 10 biggest gacha earners raked in a combined $357.4 million on mobile this June
- HoYoverse, Kuro Games and Infold Games and others found the greatest success last month
As the gacha genre gains a new top candidate in Zenless Zone Zero, there’s no better time to look back at the final month before its release and reflect on June’s biggest gacha earners – from good old reliable Genshin Impact to fresh-faced Wuthering Waves.
According to Sensor Tower data presented by GachaRevenue, the 10 biggest earners in the genre raked in a combined $357.4 million on mobile this June, with chart toppers Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail once again handing HoYoverse the win.
Best of the best
Honkai: Star Rail was June’s biggest gacha earner with $93.5 million in global mobile earnings, holding a strong lead over Genshin Impact for the second month running. Its open-world predecessor generated $67.5 million this June.
This was an increase for both titles over May’s revenue, where the pair earned $91 million and $53.3 million respectively. Their unstoppable success saw both games make the top 10 on mobile for Q1 revenue across all genres, too.
In third place for this June’s gacha rankings was Wuthering Waves, a new monster-collecting IP from another Chinese games developer, Kuro Games. The title launched on May 22nd and was second only to Squad Busters in Japanese downloads that month, meanwhile generating $25.8 million globally in just over a week.
Roll on June, and Wuthering Waves’ first full month brought $50.3 million crashing in on mobile.
Asian domination
Infold Games’ sci-fi dating sim Love and Deepspace claimed fourth among gacha earners with $31 million – a marginal decline from its $33.6 million in May. Published by China-headquartered Nikke Inc., the title has positioned itself as “one of the few 3D romance games“.
Then, rounding out the top five was Tencent’s Naruto Mobile, down from third in May; the game declined from $49.5 million to $27.5 million in June but continued to find considerable success even as the oldest title among these chart toppers.
Across these five highest earners, it’s beyond apparent that Chinese links can mean big business for gacha giants, as each was either developed or published by companies in the region. And across June’s top 10 gacha earners, every one was developed in Asia, showcasing a clear mastery of the genre in the East.
Placing sixth through 10th were Netmarble’s Solo Levelling: Arise, Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Legends, GungHo’s Puzzle & Dragons, Tencent’s Light and Night, and Aniplex’s Fate/Grand Order.
Of course, one of these 10 is bound to be displaced by HoYoverse’s latest hit in July’s charts; with almost $25 million generated in its first five days, it doesn’t take a crystal ball to foresee Zenless Zone Zero’s shiny new trophy by the end of the month.
