Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is here, and the Massive-Entertainment-developed game is surprisingly complex, offering a huge open world, survival mechanics, crafting system, combat, and more. It can all be a lot to take in at first, but we’re here to help.
Like most action-adventures/RPGs, there are merchants in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora that you can acquire useful things from (gear, weapons, food, ect.) but the Na’vi don’t use traditional currency. Instead, you’ll acquire things with “Clan Favor,” but how exactly does this work, and how do you get it? The game doesn’t necessarily explain it that clearly, so scroll on down for the lowdown on Clan Favor…
Each of Avatar: Frontier of Pandora’s three main clans, the Aranahe, the Zeswa, and the Kame’tire have a main settlement with various vendor you can “receive” gear, crafting materials, and crafting recipes from in exchange for Clan Favor. Your Clan Favor is indicated by the spiral in the lower-right corner of the screen above surrounded by leaf-like patterns. Each notch on the spiral grants you one “leaf” of Clan Favor, and while only a maximum of 5 leaves are shown around the outside of the spiral, every notch counts as it continues to swirl inward. As you’ll note from the image, each item has a Clan Favor leaf cost and if you buy that item, your Clan Favor depletes. In other words, Clan Favor is not a persistent thing – it’s essentially a currency you spend like any other.
So, how do you actually earn this Clan Favor? There’s a few ways…
Complete main and side quests
Both main and side quests completed in a region will reward you with a pretty hefty amount of Clan Favor. Helping your fellow Na’vi out is the best way to get on their good side!
Clan Contributions
In each Na’vi clan’s main settlement as well as their various camps, you’ll find a Community Basket where you can contribute items. When you interact with the Community Basket a specific item will usually be requested – provide it for a Clan Favor bonus.
There are also Community Contribution side missions, that ask you to provide the asked-for items to multiple of that clan’s baskets. One you hit certain contribution milestones – 3 baskets, 5 baskets, 7 baskets ect – you’ll complete the mission and receive bonus Clan Favor and items. You can also just dump excess items that aren’t being asked for into baskets. You won’t get much Clan Favor for this, but it’s better than just dropping unwanted stuff on the ground.
Take out RDA outposts
In addition to the RDA bases you have to take out as part of the main campaign, there are also a number of other outposts dotting the map. Take them down to bring the area around the outpost back to life and earn a nice chunk of Clan Favor.
And there you go – that’s how you get Clan Favor. Oh, and one more tip – make sure to spend the Clan Favor as you earn it. If you completely fill the Clan Favor spiral gauge, any extra you earn won’t be counted.
