Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is here, and the Massive-Entertainment-developed game is surprisingly complex, offering a huge open world, survival mechanics, crafting system, combat, and more. It can all be a lot to take in at first, but we’re here to help.
Combat in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora can be a bit frustrating (here are some tips on how to make the best of it though). This is particularly true early on, when you’re stuck twanging away at big RDA mechs with low-powered Na’vi weaponry. Thankfully, there is a way to get access to fairly punchy shotgun early in the game that should make you feel a bit more empowered. It’s easy to get, but also easily missed if you’re not looking for it. Here’s how to grab it…
Very early on, as part of your first mission when you escape into the jungles of Pandora, you’ll defend Na’vi So’lek from the RDA within a small fueling station. Once you’ve fought off the RDA, you may notice there’s a locked crate found amongst the fueling station. Hmmm! You can’t open this yet.
Advance the main campaign just a bit further, until you reach the Resistance Headquarters. Once there, as part of the “Becoming” main quest, you’ll receive your Systems Interrogation Device (SID). This lets you hack various terminals, and yes, special crates! Hmmm again!
Head back to the fueling station where you defended So’lek, find that crate you couldn’t open before, and use your SID to unlock it. You’ve now got yourself a pretty hefty shotgun for free that will allow you to stand up against most early-game RDA mechs quite well. This will allow you to play more aggressively, if the more stealthy approach has been causing you grief.
