Browser-based games platform FRVR has raised $12.7 million in a funding round led byIberis Capital, with funds going towards advancing its AI engine and further personalising game experiences.
To help “disrupt the status quo”, further support came from Indico Capital Partners, Lince Capital and others.
Hiro Capital was a return investor in the round after leading a $76 million investment in FRVR back in 2022.
Democratising games
FRVR was founded by Chris Benjaminsen and Brian Meidell, both veterans of the games industry eager to democratise game creation. The platform they created serves as a place where users can create and distribute games, now with over 100 games and one billion instances of gameplay.
Benjaminsen also co-founded Player.IO and PlayerScale, while Meidell has worked as CTO, CEO and a board member at Cape Copenhagen.
The latest funding will help their team develop Forge, FRVR’s AI-driven game creation platform.
“We’re thrilled to have secured this funding. We’ve spent the last few years solving mass distribution of games across a myriad of channels. We are now working on making our platform the best possible place to create and distribute games and interact with your players,” said Meidell.
“Our new AI-first game development engine, Forge, helps developers create faster than ever and non-developers to create and distribute games across multiple channels, including mobile, PC, and web. Our platform is designed to simplify the game creation and distribution process, making games development accessible to everyone.”
