Fujifilm is launching a hybrid instant camera with a classic design and 100 effects combinations for your photos.
Instax was introduced as a brand of instant still cameras 23 years ago in 1998 and continues to be popular. There’s many designs used for the different Instax camera bodies, but the Instax Mini Evo embraces a classic styling. Fujifilm describes it as having a “premium and classical touch,” but it’s also the first Instax camera to include a print lever, lens dial, and film dial (complete with operation sounds).
The lens and film dials can be used to select shooting effects, while the lever is used to print a photograph. The camera has ten lens effects and ten film effects, which allow for the 100 shooting effects combinations. Fujifilm is also launching a “Stone Gray” mini-format film for use with the camera, which “has a gray frame accentuated with metallic silver to give off a sense of luxury” to your printed photos.
The Instax Mini Evo smartphone app can be used to print photos stored on a phone using the Mini Evo printer. It can also transfer a photo taken with the Mini Evo for storage on the phone. Fujifilm is offering accessories in the form of a black camera case and an acrylic frame for presenting your favorite prints.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is launching on Dec. 3 in Japan. According to The Verge, Fujifilm intends to release the Mini Evo in the US at some point in February next year. It’s expected to cost $199.95.
