Fujitsu is set to offer a laptop for people who desire an ultraportable experience, and need the lightest device possible with the minimum of compromises to achieve it.
The Fujitsu LifeBook UH-X/E3 is a 13.3-inch laptop with a 1080p display powered by an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, Iris Xe GPU, 8GB of LPDDR4X-4266 dual-channel RAM, a 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi 6, and runs Windows 10 Pro. The components hold the promise of a high performance laptop, but one that only weighs 1.4 pounds (634 grams) and measures 0.61-inches thick.
The compromise to achieve such a thin and light device seems to be the RAM, which is soldered to the board, and the battery. This LifeBook uses a 25Whr battery, but Fujitsu claims it can offer 11 hours of battery life under ideal conditions. As Liliputing points out, it’s more realistic you’ll get half that time, but in such a portable machine five-to-seven hours still isn’t bad.
Fujitsu certainly didn’t skimp on the ports. There’s Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Type A, HDMI, audio jack, a microSD card slot, and a fingerprint reader. And if you’re worried about battery life, the USB 3.2 Type-C port doubles as a charging port so you can always plug in an external battery pack.
There’s no pricing available yet, with Fujitsu’s Japanese website only offering a phone number for corporate sales. Hopefully this LifeBook is going to offered more widely, though, as I can see it being quite popular at the right price.
