The shield that guards the realms of match-3
Game of Thrones: Legends generated $24,366 on its global release date, July 25th, and has seen daily growth since with only one exception: revenue fell to $59,887 on July 29th, down from $62,491 on July 28th.
The daily rise has resumed since and on August 4th, Game of Thrones: Legends generated $109,627 – more than quadruple the cash earned on launch day.
Its biggest audience, the US, has contributed 47% of earnings so far – including soft launch – while France ranks second with 12%. Australia represents Legends’ third-biggest market, accountable for 8% of player spending.
Meanwhile, on the downloads front, AppMagic data suggests close to one million people have joined the match-3 battle against the Night King, with 938,696 total installs to date.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington rallied the troops in Legends’ launch trailer, where he showed off in-game mechanics, RPG elements, and gave a glimpse of fan-favourite characters.
Thanks to a licencing deal with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Zynga has designed said characters based on their appearances in HBO’s series, creating cohesion for watchers of the shows as their favourite lords, ladies and dragons share a likeness to on-screen faces – as opposed to new interpretations from the books.
Those characters come from across A Song of Ice and Fire’s universe too, bringing together the likes of Jon Snow and House of the Dragon’s Rhaenyra Targaryen in one game of match-3.
