Sept. 8 is the date on which the original Star Trek series premiered in the US, and therefore has been deemed Start Trek Day. This year, digital games platform GOG.com is celebrating by releasing six classic Start Trek games to play, with another two planned for release in the future.
There are Star Trek games dating back to the early 1970’s, but it was around the turn of the century we enjoyed a number of critically acclaimed titles. Now GOG has teamed up with Activision to ensure they all work on modern versions of Windows. The titles made available today include:
Two further titles are listed as coming soon, they are Star Trek: Armada and Star Trek: Armada II.
Each game currently costs $9.99 to buy, and all of them have been updated to work on Windows 7, 8, and 10. There’s also a nice mix of strategy, simulation, action, and shooter experiences to enjoy. And as it’s GOG, there’s no DRM, meaning you can purchase all six games for just under $60, download the 4GB of data required to install them, and never have to worry about requiring an internet connection when deciding which one to play.
Both Armada games don’t have a release date yet, But GOG still allows you to wishlist them and/or receive a notification when the release date is confirmed.
