Nintendo is adding two Golden Sun Game Boy Advance titles to Nintendo Switch Online next week on January 17.
The Golden Sun games are fan favorites, and starting next week, Switch Online subscribers who also subscribed to the Expansion Pack tier can play Golden Sun and its sequel from 2002/2003, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, on Nintendo’s platform. Nintendo announced the arrival of these RPG classics via X and through an announcement trailer. The recently-released Sea of Stars takes inspiration from these classic RPGs. We’ve included the announcement video below:
“It’s time to put your skills and spells to the test against the forces of darkness. The Game Boy Advance games Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are making their debuts on the Nintendo Switch system, available for everyone with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership as part of the Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online library beginning January 17”, Nintendo writes. “This is your chance to visit (and revisit!) the magic and mystery of these classic RPG adventures.”
Many fans consider The Lost Age the best entry in the series, followed by the 2001/2002 original. There’s also a third installment for the Nintendo DS, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, released in 2010. We’re pretty sure that these first two titles hold special memories for those old enough to have played them, and we can’t wait to play them again on the Switch next week. We’ve included the official press release from 2003 for The Lost Age below for those interested.
Golden Sun: The Lost Age continues the story where the smash hit title Golden Sun left off. The original title was met with astounding praise due to its in depth storyline and beautifully crafted visuals and Golden Sun: The Lost Age will create new excitement when it is released on 19th September 2003.
Alchemy is the power responsible for creating the human civilization in the world known as Weyard. Power gets out of control and soon leads to corruption which causes the hearts and minds of men to turn to darkness. To stop Alchemy from working, four elemental lighthouses are built to seal away this power of darkness. In the first Golden Sun, members of the Mars clan lit two of the lighthouses before being defeated by a brave group of warriors.
In this stunning continuation of the first title, players must once again venture forth into a new realm where evil creatures lurk at every corner and the safety of the world depends on their success. But this time, players must light the two remaining lighthouses whilst being pursued by the brave warriors who defeated the Mars clan in the first Golden Sun. Will their efforts bring about destruction or a new golden age?
