Google has updated the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max in the US with improved support for displaying text, listening to commands, and responding to queries in Spanish.
Devices won’t be limited to just one language, either, which could prove useful for people learning a second language or for those living in multilingual homes. That’s a significant amount of people—Pew said in 2013 that Spanish is the most-spoken non-English language in the US.
“Now you can do more in Spanish,” Google says, “whether that’s enjoying music, video chatting with your family, watching your favorite sports teams or controlling your smart home devices.”
Google also added Univision to YouTube TV, introduced a game called Lotería, and brought Spanish-language support to existing features such as step-by-step recipe instructions, Google Duo video calls, and streaming music controls, among other things.
This expanded support for Spanish is available now via software updates to the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max entertainment systems, as well as the Nest Audio and Nest Mini speakers.
