Supercell has brought British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to its mobile farming game Hay Day.
For a limited time between January 15th to 24th, Ramsay will be an in-game character that assists players in looking after their farms. The role was previously given to a character called Greg, who has now “gone on a fishing trip”.
Supercell said the partnership will also see new features introduced and events taking place in the game.
You can watch a trailer announcing Gordon Ramsay’s inclusion below.
“Harmony in the chaos”
“We’ve always known that Hay Day is a place of relaxation and calm, even for one of the most fiery individuals in entertainment,” said Hay Day GM Maya Hofree.
“Meanwhile, we can’t wait for players to meet virtual Gordon Ramsay in our game and have fun building up their own farming utopia.”
Ramsay commented: “I’m known for many things, but being zen is not one of them. What people don’t know is thanks to Hay Day I’ve found a new sense of calm from harvesting crops and feeding livestock.
“People will be shocked to see me as a character in such a tranquil game, but that’s exactly the point — Hay Day shows that anyone, no matter who they are, can find a bit of harmony in the chaos.”
IP and celebrity partnerships
Supercell has struck a number of celebrity and IP partnerships over the past year.
Squad Busters’ launch was backed by a star-studded video trailer, which included Chris Hemsworth, Christina Ricci, Ken Jeong, Will Arnett and Aulii Cravalho.
Last year, the Finnish developer also brought Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland to Clash of Clans as a playable character.
Meanwhile, the Supercell recently partnered with Disney and Pixar to bring Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear to Brawl Stars.
Gordon Ramsay has had his name attached to a couple of mobile game projects in the past, including Glu’s Restaurant Dash with Gordon Ramsay and Outplay’s Gordon Ramsay: Chef Blast.
