A new trailer for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has aired a couple of days ago. This new trailer shows a new character that will be joining the game’s roster once the game releases later this year. The character in question is the southwest Divine General Anila. And yes, she looks like a lamb and will not hesitate to ram into you with her flock of sheep at her disposal.

Anila is a character who enjoys confectionary making and uses a polearm as a weapon. She is a very aggressive rushdown character with a projectile in the form of the sheep companions, which she can also use to avoid incoming attacks or boost herself up. Some SNK fans probably noticed that she also briefly references Terry Bogard’s Buster Wolf with her Level 3. Believe it or not, she has also referenced Terry in Granblue Fantasy through her charged attacks.
The latest trailer for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising also shows off a few of the new mechanics that will be part of the new game as well. You might have missed them among the flock of sheep, but we will talk about them briefly.
First, we have the Dash Attack, a quick attack that can be performed while dashing, which allows you to keep the pressure going. You can also add these Dash attacks to the combo chain with some characters. Different characters will have access to different versions of the Dash attack. In the case of Gran, as shown above, his medium Dash attack is a low-hitting poke that can catch standing blockers off-guard.
Speaking of reliable ways to keep the pressure going, the auto combo system has seen a bit of an extension as well through the game’s Triple Attack mechanic. The Triple Attack can be performed by pushing an attack button three times in a row, as always. The difference now, however, is that the third button press can be changed to an overhead or a low attack, depending on your input. As shown above, the input for the overhead and low attacks is different.
Additionally, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising will be available in an Open Beta tournament when EVO 2023 arrives. So, make sure to prepare yourself so you can experience the game for the first time while competing with other players. Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam) at some point in 2023.
