The success of Helldivers 2 continues unabated. Even yesterday, the third-person cooperative sci-fi shooter game nearly reached its historical peak of 450K concurrent online users on Steam. The user reception on Valve’s store has meaningfully improved compared to launch, too, leaping from the original 67% ‘Mixed’ review rating to the current 81% ‘Very Positive’ review rating.
Moreover, the game is selling great even on other channels and platforms, like retail and PlayStation 5. According to GamesIndustry.biz’s Christopher Dring, the game has seen three consecutive weeks of growth (a 115% improvement in week two and another 21% in week three) after launching in the United Kingdom. In fact, according to Dring, Helldivers 2 only sold around 28% less than Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which might have cost ten times as much to make or thereabouts.
How much did it sell, anyway? The closest thing to an official confirmation came from Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt when he practically nodded that the game had surpassed three million units sold after two weeks.
Now, though, it may be much higher. According to industry insider Shinobi602, Helldivers 2 has now sold ‘way more’ than five million units. However, Sony (the game’s publisher) still hasn’t released any statements to celebrate its success. A recent rumor suggested it might be about to purchase the studio, but Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt debunked the news.
Anyway, a recent patch has introduced random planetary hazards, and the mechs have now been properly implemented in the game after the successful operation on the planet Tien Kwan.
You did it, Helldivers. Thanks to your determination, Tien Kwan stands strong and free. pic.twitter.com/GC1rPmI30C

Arrowhead announced the arrival of a new Warbond (the game’s equivalent of a Battle Pass), Cutting Edge, for next Thursday. Purchasing the Warbond will grant access to three new armor prototypes and several new weapons, not to mention three new player capes (and matching player cards) and as many new emotes.
