Hogwarts Legacy 2 will likely be powered by the Unreal Engine 5, judging from a job ad from developer Avalanche Software.
As spotted by Tech4Gamers, the developer of the successful open-world game launched last year is looking for a Senior Character Artist with experience with Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. While the ad doesn’t explicitly say which project this new Senior Character Artist would be working on, it is pretty telling how Hogwarts Legacy is the only game from the studio mentioned in the ad, suggesting that its sequel is likely the developer’s next project.
Considering how much the original sold, Hogwarts Legacy 2 is almost guaranteed to happen at some point. Hopefully, it will feature a more interesting open-world design, as it employs all of the mechanics made popular by Ubisoft games, as highlighted by Chris in his review.
Hogwarts Legacy is, for better or worse, an entertaining and engaging game. By far the best digital version of the wizarding world, it offers a vast swathe of things to do. Even the more mundane elements (bandit camps!) are improved by a robust combat system that genuinely makes you feel like you’re a part of the Harry Potter universe.
