2) Blue Ocean Games launches $30m fund to support indie game developers
Blue Ocean Games has launched a $30 million fund to support indie developers, which will provide up to $100,000 per dev or $300,000 per team.
Funding is tied to objective market-validation milestones as opposed to relying on subjective progress checkpoints. And in addition to financial backing, Blue Ocean Games will offer practical support such as help with incorporation or mentorship from industry veterans.
3) Riot Games’ Valorant Mobile set for China launch
Valorant Mobile will initially launch in China before its expansion to global markets, nearly four years after it was first announced.
Riot Games has partnered with Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios to bring the tactical hero shooter to mobile, with the latter having previously worked on multi-billion dollar hit PUBG Mobile, Peacekeeper Elite and Riot’s own League of Legends: Wild Rift.
4) Krafton’s Gaming Incubator taps six Indian startups for second cohort
The Krafton India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) now includes six startups from emerging gaming hubs like Kolkata, Mumbai and Madurai.
In addition to financial support, over the next six to 12 months each of these startups is due to receive tailored mentorship in game development, design, marketing and business strategy.
5) EU slaps Apple with $570m fine for violating Digital Markets Act
The European Commission has fined Apple €500 million ($570m) after finding that the tech giant has violated the Digital Markets Act.
The ruling was determined as Apple was found to have breached anti-steering rules, following an investigation into its business practices.
