1) Pokémon Go Tour Unova – Global weekend made $19.8m in two days
Niantic’s Pokémon Go generated $19.8 million over its two-day event Pokémon Go Tour Unova – Global, with the highest player spending of 2025 thus far according to AppMagic estimates.
The latest instalment in the annual Tour series, this time focusing on Unova Pokémon, took place on March 1st and 2nd as a free event with paid extras like items and a bonus quest line. Its active weekend outperformed last year’s Pokémon Go Tour Sinnoh – Global.
2) Goddess of Victory: Nikke hits $1bn on mobile during Romantic Valentine event
Shift Up’s Goddess of Victory: Nikke has surpassed $1 billion in lifetime player spending on mobile alone, according to AppMagic.
The milestone has been reached in under two-and-a-half years, after the shooter game raced to its first $500 million in less than a year. The title has observed some slowdown in player spending since, therefore, but has continued to successfully leverage gacha mechanics and events to keep monetised.
3) Report: Tripledot to buy AppLovin’s games business
London developer Tripledot is set to buy AppLovin’s games division for $900m, according to four people with “knowledge of the matter”.
Plans may yet change as the deal isn’t believed to be finalised, but AppLovin previously stated that a term sheet had been signed with the deal expected to close this quarter. PocketGamer.biz also understands the acquirer is a private, London-based company.
4) RuneScape surpasses $2 billion in lifetime revenue
Popular MMORPG RuneScape has surpassed $2bn in lifetime revenue, garnering 300m player accounts.
The RuneScape series dates back to its first release in 2001, 24 years ago, as a browser game.
5) Activision promoting Guitar Hero, Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot mobile games that don’t exist
Activision has released ads appearing to use generative AI to promote previously unannounced Guitar Hero Mobile, Call of Duty: Zombie Defender and Crash Bandicoot Brawl games on social media.
However, those games don’t actually exist – as links lead to fake app stores and a survey about mobile games and what drew users to the ads.
