1) Supercell establishes London studio with 100% acquisition of Space Ape
Supercell has increased its stake in London-based Space Ape Games to 100% in a move said to effectively establish a new Supercell office in central London.
“We believe the best teams create the best games, so we are really excited to find our place within London’s incredibly talented games ecosystem by joining forces with Space Ape,” said Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen.
2) Goddess of Victory: Nikke celebrates second anniversary and nearly $900m on mobile
Shift Up’s RPG Goddess of Victory: Nikke has celebrated its second anniversary with $890.6 million in gross revenue on mobile according to AppMagic estimates.
The title accumulated $555 million in its first year and a further $335 million in year two. New sci-fi characters, a fresh story event and more have been added in-game to celebrate.
3) Pikmin Bloom celebrates record-breaking third year budding $63 million in lifetime earnings
Niantic’s Pikmin Bloom has celebrated its third anniversary with lifetime revenue surpassing $63 million according to AppMagic. The AR walking game leverages Nintendo’s Pikmin IP and has bolstered its revenue dramatically over the past year, making 53% of its lifetime earnings in that time.
In fact, Pikmin Bloom’s earnings have grown each year since its release even though downloads haven’t, indicating an improvement to the in-game monetisation model.
4) Playtika reports Q3 revenue of $620 million as DTC platforms drive 8.3% growth
Israeli game maker Playtika saw its revenue decline 1.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024, standing at $620.8 million.
Net income grew by 3.7% year-on-year however, up to $39.3 million, and revenue from direct-to-consumer platforms also increased by 8.3% to $174.4 million.
5) Pokémon TCG Pocket has second best mobile launch in the franchise, beaten only by Pokémon Go
Pokémon’s latest release, TCG Pocket, has earned $33.7 million in its first seven days based on AppMagic data, achieving the second-best week one figures among the series’ mobile endeavours.
Revenue peaked at $5.8 million on November 3rd with the bulk of Pocket’s early success coming from Japan and the US, accounting for 43% and 26% of total spending respectively.
