Apple has published a support document offering more information about the new MagSafe charger that went on sale recently alongside the iPhone 12 series.
Among other things, the document reveals that the iPhone 12 mini can only get a maximum of 12 watts, compared to 15 watts for other models of iPhone 12.
In order for the battery to be charged as quickly as possible, a power adapter of 9 volts is required and 2.03 amps or better.
If you have connected lightning accessories such as EarPods, you will have to settle for 7.5 watts. This is due to the regulations for wireless chargers.
Furthermore, you must be sure to connect the MagSafe to an AC adapter before plugging it into your mobile phone. If you do it in the wrong order, you risk damaging your iPhone.
Thanks to the built-in magnets in the iPhone 12 series, MagSafe is firmly attached, something that ensures that charging takes place as efficiently as possible. It is possible to use MagSafe to charge other models of iPhone, but expect significantly longer charging times in those cases.
In other news, sales for MagSafe Duo will start soon. MagSafe Duo – Apple’s new accessories for wireless charging a iPhone and Apple Watch – is a step closer to going on sale.
It’s still not exactly clear when the MagSafe Duo will go on sale, but MacRumors notes that the charger has now been approved by South Korean authorities. Thus, it should only be a matter of weeks before it is available in stores.
