According to the usually well-informed Twitter account @L0vetodream, Apple will increase the amount of working memory in the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max to 6GB, compared to 4GB in today’s models.
Having more RAM would be useful when running demanding apps and games, and get Apple some nice PR: Apple has historically tended to offer less memory in its handsets than competitors such as Samsung.
The two entry-level models (the iPhone 12 and 12 Max, if branding rumours are correct) are expected to come with 4GB of RAM, so there won’t be any difference from today’s models. This all fits in with the iPhone 12 specs that Jon Prosser leaked back in May.
The new iPhone models are expected to start selling in October. Read more about the latest rumours in our iPhone 12 news roundup.
