Apple has announced its new line of smartphones, and between the shift to a USB-C, higher-resolution photos, and an improved battery, one of the standout moments was Apple’s Next Level of Mobile Gaming reveal for its high-spec iPhone models. During the iPhone 15 Pro segment, Apple showed a number of big-name games running on the smartphone.
Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro later this year, and in 2024, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Division Resurgence will be headed to the device. Apple’s iPhones have technically been capable of playing current-gen games via cloud gaming, but with the impressive new hardware inside of these new models, Apple is claiming that modern games are natively playable on their hardware.
Apple said that the iPhone 15 Pro can provide “next-level mobile gaming with fast, efficient performance and hardware-accelerated ray tracing,” but how those games will play when they’re released remains to be seen, as the sizzle reel mostly made use of brief prerendered footage and short snippets of gameplay.
These new games will be powered by the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, a chipset that Apple claims is capable of providing the fastest performance in any smartphone and is even on par with high-end PCs. The iPhone 15 is equipped with a titanium shell, a new Action Button that can be customized for a wide variety of functions, and it’ll be available in several “natural” colors.
“This is the most pro lineup we have ever created, with a state-of-the-art titanium design, the best iPhone camera system yet that enables game-changing new workflows, and the A17 Pro chip, which ushers in a new chapter of performance and games never before seen on iPhone,” said Apple VP of worldwide marketing Greg Joswiak in a press release.
