Video games enterprise Phoenix Games has made changes to the leadership team at one of its developer studios, Sixteen Tons Entertainment, the home of the popular EMERGENCY HQ mobile game.
Former CEO and founder Ralph Stock [right in our pic] has stepped down from the role and has been replaced by Jan Richter who’ll be taking up the role of CEO [left].
With over 15 years of industry experience, Richter has played a key role in developing successful titles at EA, Bigpoint, Mighty Bear Games, and ZeptoLab, where he most recently served as head of product and design.
Passing the torch
“I look back with gratitude and a bit of pride on the past three decades, where we’ve created innovative games that have delighted players worldwide,” said founder and former CEO Ralph Stock.
“I am pleased to hand over the studio to Jan’s capable hands. It feels reassuring to know that my life’s work will be carried on by Phoenix and Sixteen Tons. I look forward to many more successful games from this outstanding team.”
Richter added: “I’m really excited to take on the leadership of Sixteen Tons Entertainment and continue the amazing work Ralph has done. Using my background in F2P and mobile games, I can’t wait to help this fantastic studio grow even more and achieve new milestones.”
Since being acquired by Phoenix Games in January 2020 and optimizing its focus on the free-to-play sector, Sixteen Tons Entertainment has seen an increase in profits and has expanded hit games such as EMERGENCY HQ.
