Mobile games publisher Kwalee is laying off around 10 employees.
As reported by MobileGamer.biz, the redundancies took place primarily among the marketing team and impacted staff were notified last week.
Some of the affected staff took to LinkedIn to share that they are now looking for new opportunities.
The new cuts come after it had already laid off 10% of its staff in April. Kwalee said the cuts were part of a restructuring, with plans to increase its headcount from about 400 to 420 afterwards.
Looking ahead
In July, Kwalee made a 3.58% equity investment in Devolver Digital. Shortly after, it launched an Arabic-language edition of its mobile game publishing platform, Hitseeker.
We recently caught up with the company’s VP of mobile publishing, John Wright, who shared that Kwalee is “working on some exciting partnerships with major industry players.”
Wright has also given us his 2025 predictions on what the games industry can expect in the year ahead, including the rise of HTML5, AI and the popularity of alternative app stores.
