Decentralised gamer network KGeN (Kratos Gamer Network) has raised $10 million in a funding round to give players control over their digital identities.
The investment will help KGeN grow and develop a gaming economy where players control their data. KGeN said its goal “is to code a new paradigm for game publishing – one that’s not just profitable, but fundamentally fairer”.
Key initiatives include enhancing data capabilities, building stronger partnerships with game developers, and improving rewards systems for gamers.
KGeN focuses on integrating micro-gaming communities in emerging markets into web3 through its network. It operates across India, Brazil, Nigeria, SE Asia and MENA.
The investment round was led by Aptos Labs, with participation from Polygon and Game7. KGeN has raised $30m in total to date, valuing the company at $500m million.
Transforming data ownership
“In an industry where players often lack control, KGeN is giving them true ownership of their digital identities,” said Aptos Labs CEO Mo Shaikh. “We’re proud to support KGeN as they set a new standard for data ownership and use.”
KGeN elder council member Manish Agarwal added: “We’re excited to have believers who truly back our vision to transform gaming and data ownership. Aptos Labs’ roots at Meta give them a unique understanding of building communities and leveraging data to help businesses grow.
“Perhaps, that drives their confidence in our framework that flips the script where users truly own their data. With this partnership, we’re set to scale the multi-chain POG engine.”
