Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is out now, and as the game’s title implies, one of the toughest challenges you’ll face during the game’s campaign is… killing the Justice League. The final Squad member you’ll have to take on is the big man himself, Superman. This fight isn’t actually that much different than some that have come before, particularly the Flash battle, but it’s a real war of attrition that can be tough to overcome if you don’t know what you’re doing. Don’t worry yourself though, with our tips you’ll be able to take down the Man of Steel without too much trouble…
Fittingly, your showdown with Supes takes place in the area around a giant statue dedicated to him. The battle arena has an open rotunda in the middle near the statue, with various other structures around it. Much like the Flash battle, you need to counter Superman’s attacks when blue lighting bolt symbols appear around him in order to render him vulnerable. Meanwhile, Superman will try to hit you with his heat vision and ice breath, as well as smash you with helicopters and other vehicles. When he’s doing the latter is a good time to get a counter in.
During the first phase of your fight against Superman, how vulnerable he is to attacks, represented by the yellow bar under Superman’s life bar, doesn’t deplete. So, once you counter him a couple times, you can just focus on hurting him. This changes after you deplete Superman’s life bar the first time and the second phase of the boss battle begins – at this point, the yellow vulnerability bar will constantly deplete, meaning you’ll have to continually counter Supes in order to take him down.
During this second phase, Superman’s movements become especially fast and erratic, so how do you get those precious counters in? Well, during this phase Superman will start spamming two attacks – one where he unleashes a wave of green gas that will inflict a “crazed” status effect on you, and a powerful area-of-effect attack with a very wide radius. You can jump over the green gas to avoid it, while the AoE attack is actually your opening to counter Superman.
When Superman starts drawing energy down from the sun for the AoE attack, move out of its range, and once it’s triggered, run back toward Superman as fast as you can – Supes is stunned for a few seconds and wide open to a counter after he does the AoE attack. He does this AoE attack often enough that you can keep his vulnerability bar nearly maxed out just by taking advantage of this opening. Keep on Superman and don’t get overwhelmed when he tries to swarm you with attacks and you’ll be able to take him out.
And there you go – the final member of the Justice League, dispatched. You’ve already dealt with the Flash, Green Lantern, and Batman, so now it’s on to Brainiac!
