Japanese games firm Koei Tecmo has appointed Hisashi Koinuma as its new CEO.
The new chief exec will assume the role of representative director, president, and CEO on April 1st, 2025. He previously served as representative director and COO of Koei Tecmo Games.
He will replace co-founder Yoichi Erikawa as president and CEO, who will remain as representative director and chairman of Koei Tecmo Holdings.
Keiko Erikawa, who is currently serving as representative director and chairman, will move to the new position of director and chairman emeritus.
A new structure
As well as executive changes, Koei Tecmo said it will initiate an absorption-type company split to create Koei Tecmo Corporate Finance, a new subsidiary focused on investment functions.
This move aims to strengthen governance and optimise cash management while Koei Tecmo Games continues its operations.
“Our group aims to become the world’s No. 1 digital entertainment company under the spirit of ‘creativity and contribution’,” it said. “We have been gradually preparing for the transition to the next generation of management through discussions in the Nomination and Compensation Committee.
“To achieve further growth and profitability for our group, we have decided to implement a new management structure starting from the fiscal year 2025.”
Elsewhere, Koei Tecmo’s global version of its gacha game Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator will end service on March 28th, 2025, just over a year after its global release on January 25th, 2024. The Japanese version of the game will continue to operate.
