Krafton‘s Q2 2024 earnings increased to $532 million to bring its total for the first half of the year to $1.04 billion.
This represents an 83% revenue growth from Q2 2023 and a 48% increase from H1 2023. Also, the combined performance of Q1 and Q2 2024 set record high sales for two consecutive quarters.
Krafton saw significant revenue gains across both PC (47%) and mobile (52%) platforms compared to H1 2023. However, console revenue declined by 23% during the same period.
Currently, around two-thirds of the company’s revenue comes from its mobile products while PC and console combined account for roughly a third and the revenue share for these platforms has doubled since 2020 from 17% in H1 2020 to 33% in H1 2024.
PUBG IP drives growth
Krafton also achieved a new record for operating profits in H1 2024, earning approximately $485 million, a 55% increase from H1 2023. Remarkably, this figure already accounts for 84% of the company’s total annual operating profit for 2023.
In H1 2024, the PUBG IP experienced solid performance and sustained growth across PC and mobile. PUBG Battlegrounds saw a 130% increase in Monthly Active Users (MAU) and a 40% rise in Paying Users (PU), driven by updates like the Erangel Classic Mode and a collaboration with New Jeans.
PUBG Mobile recorded a 40% increase in Daily Active Users (DAU) and a 30% growth in paying users following collaborations with Myriam Fares and the introduction of an upgradable X-Suit Skin.
Krafton’s growth strategy includes further investment in the PUBG IP, acquiring new IPs, expanding into new game genres, and enhancing fan engagement through esports and localised content.
The company is also utilising AI for gameplay innovations and will launch two new AI-driven titles named Magical Mic Duel and Uncover the Smoking Gun in the second half of 2024.
