Supercell has appointed Lasse Seppänen as the general manager of the company’s new London office.
In a statement to PocketGamer.biz, Supercell said he will define the overall vision for the studio and work closely with the London-based teams to bring it to life.
Seppänen has been with the Clash of Clans developer since 2019. During that time he has worked as the game lead for Everdale, Hay Day and Boom Beach. Most recently he served as head of game production services, as well as continuing work on Boom Beach.
Prior to Supercell, Seppänen has previously founded his own company PlayRaven, acquired by Rovio in 2018. His other credits include serving as COO at Remedy Entertainment and head of studio at Digital Chocolate.
Supercell expansion
Last month, Supercell officially closed its 100% acquisition of UK developer Space Ape, which is forming the backbone of the newly formed Supercell London.
It employs around 100 staff and will now focus solely on Supercell titles such as Squad Busters. The studio has also formed a new games team.
Supercell is currently in discussions to transfer Space Ape’s existing portfolio, which includes Chrome Valley Customs, Fastlane: Road to Revenge, and Transformers: Earth Wars.
Titles such as Beatstar and Country Star have been handed to NextBeat, a Supercell-backed studio headed up by Space Ape co-founder Simon Hade.
Supercell was ranked second in the PocketGamer.biz Top 50 Mobile Game Makers 2024 list last year, while Space Ape ranked 20th. Space Ape also ranked 10th in the Top 50 UK Game Makers 2025 list.
