Capcom has rolled out a new Resident Evil Village PS5 update, which addresses a progression issue when playing the game with PSVR2.
The release notes for this new update are relatively minimal, but we wanted to share them nonetheless as we’re pretty sure that those playing the game in PSVR2 will be happy to learn that this progression issue should be fixed after installing this update. Resident Evil Village PS5 Update 3/13/2023 Release Notes
PlayStation 5
The following update has been made to Resident Evil Village VR Mode.
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from progressing in certain areas in the VR Mode for PlayStation VR2
Resident Evil Village is available globally now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, and PC. The game received a free VR upgrade for PSVR2 alongside the launch of Sony’s newest PSVR version last month. Those on PC can unofficially experience the game in VR mode (RE7 as well) via community mods.
“The VR Mode supports the entire campaign and lifts the award-winning experience to new heights. A deeper and more captivating adventure awaits with PlayStation VR2, as Ethan Winters’ journey takes full advantage of the headset’s advanced features”, the press release from December 2021 reads. “Resident Evil Village VR Mode utilizes the 4K HDR display, eye tracking, and 3D audio to make Resident Evil Village more realistic and intense than ever. Soak in the village’s richly detailed atmosphere in virtual reality, including the ornate chambers of Castle Dimitrescu, and prepare to feel truly dwarfed by the larger-than-life characters and creatures that lurk within.”
“Beyond stepping into the world of Resident Evil Village with the PlayStation VR2 headset, players will get to grips with their surroundings in new ways with the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. These represent Ethan’s famously resilient hands and allow intuitive actions to be performed in-game. Players can hold up their arms to guard against enemies that get too close for comfort. Weapons also feel tangibly more realistic in VR Mode with new gameplay elements that dial up the immersion, such as dual-wielding and natural motion controls for reloading firearms and brandishing knives.”
Resident Evil Village was released in May 2021 and quickly became the fastest-selling installment in the series, thereby beating Resident Evil 7. The title has sold over 6 million copies globally as of last year. Let’s see if the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake can beat those numbers.
