The release date of LEGO Horizon Adventures was leaked by Sony itself via the PlayStation Blog. Reddit user foreveryoung1108 was the first to share a screenshot of the announcement. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch on November 14.
LEGO Horizon Adventures was originally announced at Summer Game Fest 2024 after several rumors. It is being co-developed by Horizon franchise creator Guerrilla Games and British developer Studio Gobo, which has previously helped make games like F1 2012, Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0, Disney Infinity: 3.0, For Honor, Forza Street, Hyper Scape, Hogwarts Legacy, and Synced.
The game’s story will retread the events first narrated in Horizon Zero Dawn, albeit in a lighthearted and family-friendly way, given the different target audience. As such, the apocalyptic storyline will be downplayed, focusing instead on the environmental messages and Aloy’s connections with her family and friends. The studio’s goal was to make the franchise accessible to young newcomers, offering both the slapstick humor typically found in Lego games and the self-referential comedy found in the Lego movies. The Lego Movie reportedly inspired the visuals and animation.
LEGO Horizon Adventures will offer cooperative play both locally via splitscreen and online. However, there won’t be any cross-play between the platforms. Moreover, the absence of the Xbox is a bit of a mystery, although the easiest explanation is that Sony simply doesn’t want to bring even a spin-off of the Horizon franchise to its chief rival console.
