Service providers using Alarm.com’s SaaS (software-as-a-service) smart home solution will soon be able to offer their customers a choice of two Z-Wave-based smart locks from Lockly Pro, including a model with an integrated fingerprint reader.
The Lockly Guard Deadbolt Z-Wave (model 728-ZPU) can store up to 10 PINs. It can also be locked and unlocked with an app, or with a physical key. Z-Wave integration enables the lock to trigger other smart devices in the home, so that unlocking the door at night can automatically turn on the resident’s choice of indoor and outdoor lights, provided those devices are also outfitted with Z-Wave radios.
A Z-Wave hub is also required—which will typically be integrated into the service provider’s panel—and that device will bridge the lock to Wi-Fi. Some service providers might also choose to give their users the ability to arm and disarm their security system from the lock as well.
Lockly’s model 728FZ-PU smart lock features an integrated fingerprint reader that can store up to 99 unique prints.

The lock features Lockly’s innovative PIN Genie Keypad, which first displays four sets of numbers with three numbers inside each button. The numbers are randomly distributed among the four buttons, and they might or might not be duplicated, based on an algorithm. After the user enters their PIN, the numbers will reshuffle. The keypad is automatically disabled after three failed attempts.
A second version of the lock (model 728FZ-PU) will be offered with a fingerprint reader integrated in the side of the lock. That model will be able to store up to 99 fingerprints. We haven’t reviewed either of these specific models, but we have thoroughly tested the similar Lockly Secure Pro and the Lockly Vision, the latter of which incorporates a video doorbell.
