Lords of the Fallen will continue to receive meaningful updates up to version 2.0 while work on the sequel continues, with extensive playtesting taking place this year.
During an investor chat held yesterday, CI Games Senior Vice President Tom O’Connor revealed that the game will continue to receive meaningful updates up to version 2.0 in response to player feedback and external user testing to continue maximizing sales. Development of the next entry in the series is continuing as well, and extensive playtesting will be conducted this year to ensure the development team will be able to achieve high quality and maximize the game’s potential.
Since its launch, Lords of the Fallen has been updated multiple times, and it looked like the development team was done with major additions, so it’s nice to hear that more will be coming in 2025. The release of all these post-launch updates wasn’t surprising since the game definitely needed more than a few tweaks, as I highlighted in my review.
Lords of the Fallen boasts impressive visuals and an interesting story for a soulslike, but unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends. Despite functional gameplay and a well-designed world, the experience is marred by frustrating combat mechanics, subpar enemy placement, and an overall lack of polish, making it one of the most frustrating soulslikes ever released.
Lords of the Fallen is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
