According to the company organizing Gamescom, fans can look forward to the return of a “major” company during Gamescom 2023.
In an official press release, the Koelnmesse Gamescom organization and The German Games Industry Association have said that more companies have already registered for the annual event compared to the same time last year. In addition to this increase in company registrations during the early-bird phase, the COO of Koelnmesse has teased the return of “one or the other major company that was not present last year”. No further details were shared about which major company we’re looking at.
“Last year, we made a really strong, hybrid gamescom comeback together with all partners and exhibitors”, Koelnmesse’s COO Oliver Frese writes in the press release. “In and beyond the industry, this achievement has been noticed, as was evident with the strong interest during the early bird phase. Without giving away too much, I promise that the community can look forward to one or the other major company that was not present last year. In addition, we already have well-known market leaders on board from the newly announced exhibitor segments for 2023, such as streaming and tabletop games. That means that both die-hard gamescom fans and individuals from linked communities have a lot to look forward to at gamescom 2023.”
Among the biggest companies, both Sony and Nintendo did not attend Gamescom 2022, while Microsoft was present with updates on various titles. In addition to Nintendo and Sony, Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive, and Wargaming weren’t present at the annual event in Koln, Germany. It remains to be seen to which company Frese is referring. We’ll likely be hearing more about the attendance of Gamescom 2023 in the coming months.
The first exhibitors for Gamescom 2023 will be announced in the coming months. As always, we will keep you posted as soon as more information about the event comes in.
Gamescom 2023 is taking place from Tuesday, August 22nd, to Sunday, August 27th at the trade fair grounds in Cologne, Germany. Prior to this annual gaming event, we have E3 2023 kicking off this June, although Microsoft has already confirmed that it won’t attend the event. In addition, recent rumors also suggest Sony nor Nintendo will be there either. Of course, it should be mentioned that although Microsoft (and possibly Sony and Nintendo as well) won’t have booths at the event, this doesn’t mean there won’t be press events during the E3 2023 period.
