The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has not been well-received mainly because it runs so poorly and has so many bugs, especially on last-generation consoles. Now we’re hearing a very important patch for the game is set to be released early next week.
As Vice reports, news of the patch comes via a GameStop internal memo rather than the developer. The memo reads as follows:
“CDP will issue a patch on 12/21 that should be a major fix to address customers’ concerns about Cyberpunk 2077. If customers are still unhappy and want to return their product, they should be directed to send an email to: helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com for reimbursement directions and refunds issued directly from CDP. The complete CDP message to Cyberpunk customers can be found here: https://en.cdprojektred.com/news/important-update/“
News of a patch promising to fix many of the major bugs in the game will be welcomed by anyone who decided not to get a refund yet. However, it has arrived too late to stop Sony removing the game from sale on the PlayStation Store. If you want the game on PS4 or PS5 right now, a physical copy is the only option. If this patch does arrive on Monday and makes the game playable on PS4, we could see Sony reverse its decision before the end of the year.
Keep in mind that this patch hasn’t been confirmed as definitely arriving on Dec. 21. To date, CD Projekt Red has stated it will release updates this year, but major patches won’t arrive until early 2021 with the first expected in January. I can see why they would want to get a major patch out before Christmas, though, considering the state of the game.
