Mario Kart is always a good time, and if you want to bring that racing action into your life, last year’s AR kart racer, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, is currently discounted at Amazon. Mario Kart Live’s Luigi set is $90, down from its regular price of $100. The Luigi set ships from and is sold by Amazon; however, if you’re interested in the Mario set, there are a number of reputable third-party sellers with stock available. $10 isn’t a huge discount, but Nintendo products rarely go on sale, making this deal particularly notable.
$90 (was $100)
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit pairs real-world RC cars with a Nintendo Switch gaming experience. You create a track by placing cardboard gates around your living room, kitchen, or any other space in your house before taking control of your camera-equipped toy car with the Switch. From there, you’ll race through each gate on the Switch as your RC car zooms around the house.
While you drive a real RC car around your home, AI opponents will appear on your Switch’s screen. From there, it’s like playing any other Mario Kart game, complete with coins, items, and hazards. And befitting the series, the RC car zips around in the real world much faster at the advanced 200cc mode than its slower 50cc predecessor.
GameSpot’s Mario Kart Live review awarded the experience a 7/10, praising its engaging track creation, excellent go-kart toy replica, and innovations that fit comfortably in the Mario Kart series. However, critic Steve Watts was disappointed by the underwhelming AI and the fact that you need to buy a second set if you want to play multiplayer.
