The next Mass Effect is likely still several years away, but those eager for new content from BioWare’s universe can look towards another epic sci-fi shooter in the meantime. Yes, today it was announced Destiny 2 will be getting a variety of Mass-Effect-themed cosmetics, including the free “Alliance Requisitions Bundle” and the paid “Normandy Crew Bundle.” You can get more details, below.
“The Normandy Crew Bundle will be available at the Eververse store in-game and will include a Commander Shepard-inspired N7 armor set for Titans, a Garrus-inspired Vakarian set for Hunters, and a Liara-inspired Shadow Broker set for Warlocks. In celebration of the partnership, all players will be able to claim the Alliance Requisitions Bundle, including the Enhanced Defense Ghost Shell, Alliance Scout Frigate ship, and Alliance Drop Ship Sparrow, which will be available at no cost. Players can also get the Omni Strike finisher and Flux Dance emote for Silver.”
Sounds like a fun little crossover. Frankly, I’d be cool with Mass Effect and Destiny getting even more up in each other’s business, as the two universes are practically made for each other.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with the latest happenings in the Destiny universe, Bungie admitted that they missed their revenue projections for last year badly, leading to layoffs. They also delayed the upcoming Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion from February to early summer for more polishing. In the meantime, Bungie will be releasing more content to tide players over. In addition to the newly-revealed Mass Effect goodies, they’ve promised…
“New content available for all players to jump into until the launch of The Final Shape. In February, this will include new weekly progression-based quests called Wishes, and the launch of Moments of Triumph with unique rewards. Next, we’re moving Guardian Games up to March with a refreshed focus on class vs. class competition. Then, beginning in April, we’re delivering a two-month content update available to everyone called Destiny 2: Into the Light, which will prepare players for their Guardian’s journey into the Traveler. All of this is in addition to the ongoing efforts from our PvP Strike Team, including three new PvP maps dropping in May.”
Destiny 2 can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. The Mass Effect content will arrive on February 13 and The Final Shape expansion launches on June 4.
