Meet Samsung's newest Android tablets: Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G and Tab A7 Lite

Following weeks and weeks of leaks and branding speculation, today Samsung has quietly announced the Galaxy Tab S7 FE with 5G network support and the affordable Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

Samsung’s new Android tablet is essentially a more affordable version of the flagship Galaxy Tab S7+ model. It packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage as standard.

If that isn’t quite enough, you’ll be pleased to hear that a 6/128GB version is available too. Samsung has also been generous enough to include a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand the storage by up to 1TB.

The aforementioned chipset enables 5G network support, but that’s not a standard feature. The basic Galaxy Tab S7 FE variant supports Wi-Fi networks, with LTE and 5G being available as extras.

You can take advantage of those connectivity options on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE‘s 12.4-inch display. It’s like the one found on the Galaxy Tab S7+, only this time around the panel uses LCD tech instead of AMOLED and stick to a 60Hz refresh rate.

The good news is that it retains S Pen stylus support. The latter magnetically connects to the rear and side of the Samsung tablet and charges wirelessly when attached. The S Pen can be used for drawing, taking notes, or simply navigating the tablet’s UI.

Speaking of the user interface, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE ships with Android 11 and One UI 3.1 on board. That’s no surprise considering it’s the latest version of Samsung’s software. An update to Android 12 early next year is to be expected.

Other noteworthy specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera with support for Full-HD video recording and autofocus. There’s a 5-megapixel selfie shooter too, ensuring a good experience on Zoom calls. Last on the list of features for Samsung’s newest tablet is a 10,090mAh battery, which supports 45W Super Fast Charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE will be available in select regions starting June. The 5G model will be priced at £589 with 64GB and £629 with 128GB in the UK. European and US pricing hasn’t been announced and neither has the cost of Samsung’s Wi-Fi and LTE versions.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite

If the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is out of your price range, Samsung might just have you covered with the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. It retails at just £149/$159 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, although a 4/64GB model is coming.

The Galaxy A7 Lite features an 8-7-inch LCD display and an aluminum body. That compact tablet also houses a 5,100mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Disappointingly, Samsung has chosen a 2-megapixel selfie sensor.

Completing the package is microSD card support, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, Android 11 with One UI 3, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite will be available starting June in two colors — Silver and Gray — and two connectivity options — LTE and Wi-Fi.
