Game development and animation school MetStudios has partnered with mental health charity organisation Safe In Our World.
The partnership will allow students to study game design at MetStudios in the UK while being given the skills to manage mental health.
This follows the charity’s recent success in raising over £150,000 through a Fanatical bundle, reflecting a growing push for positive change in the industry.
As part of the collaboration, Safe In Our World will integrate mental health resources into its courses to promote the well-being of future game developers.
Launched in 2024 as the sister school of MetFilm School, MetStudios is a UK school for games, animation, and VFX, with campuses in London, Berlin, Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, and Manchester.
Levelling up mental health
“We’re so excited to be partnering with Safe in Our World at MetStudios,” said MetStudios head of school Rosemary Chalmers. “Mental health is something that should be front and centre in everything we do.
“Our pledge to level-up mental health with support from Safe In Our World will ensure that our environment is safe and supportive for our student and staff mental health at all times.
“I’m excited to explore this more holistically and push this further by ensuring that students at MetStudios are considering their impact on mental health in the narrative worlds they create through video games.”
Ms Chalmers added: “This partnership reflects MetStudios’ ongoing commitment to preparing students for careers in the creative industries while ensuring they have the tools to thrive personally and professionally.
“By embedding mental health awareness into our culture and curriculum, we are supporting our students to create games and stories that are mindful of their impact on both players, and society.”
