New game listings on Best Buy have revealed Microsoft is tweaking the retail box design for Xbox games.
As the image above and Xbox News tweet below reveal, the design change is subtle, with the biggest difference being the removal of the green Xbox bar at the top of the box. Microsoft has instead decided to give the game art more space while printing the important details on compatibility and features in the corners, which is also where the Xbox logo now resides.
Importantly, it still clearly looks like an Xbox game case and should be as recognizable on the shelf. The end of the case remains the same gray background and white text, although there’s no green section at the top so it will look a little different on a bookshelf.
So far we’ve seen the new box design for Halo Infinite, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Forza Horizon 5. Forza also has an added bar showing the version of the game being offered, which is bright and very clear as it should be. Expect all future Xbox game releases to adopt this new design.
