If the rumors are to be believed, the Touch Bar included on MacBooks is heading for the graveyard later this year with the launch of new models. However, Microsoft is taking the opportunity to poke fun at it one last time in the latest Surface ad.
As The Verge reports, Microsoft just launched a new Surface Pro 7 ad where it compares the device to a MacBook Pro. The first advantage highlighted by Microsoft is the fact the Pro 7 ships with a touch screen and pen, where as the MacBook Pro “gave us this little bar, but why can’t they just give me a whole touch screen?”
Microsoft also points to the Pro 7 having a detachable keyboard allowing it to be used as a tablet, the gaming advantage it offers compared to a Mac, and the price. The cost difference is a big one, with the MacBook Pro starting at $1,299 while Microsoft has reduced the price of the Pro 7 to just $890 (including the keyboard).
The MacBook Pro does have a lot going for it to make spending the extra cash worth it, including that new M1 chip for performance and impressive battery life. The MBP does also have a larger display (13.3-inches vs. 12.3-inches), but it’s still hard to argue against a $409 saving.
