FromSoftware’s Elden Ring on Xbox Game Pass? Microsoft might very well have been teasing just yet some hours ago.
Overnight, Microsoft’s Xbox Vice President for Game Creator Experience and Ecosystem, Sarah Bond, took to Twitter with a cryptic tweet showing an emoticon of an ‘older’ person accompanied by a ‘ring’ as well as the Xbox hashtag and logo. Following this initial tweet, Bond followed up with an image of Elden Ring.

As expected, the community is now speculating about the game’s arrival on Microsoft’s subscription service in the near future, which would be an amazing new addition to the service and one that will be highly appreciated by Xbox players. Some fans even went as far as to suggest that Microsoft will be purchasing Elden Ring developer FromSoftware.
If true, Elden Ring coming to Game Pass would be the first FromSoftware title that will be offered on Microsoft’s subscription service (as far as we can recall).
Elden Ring launched back in February of 2022 and has been selling amazingly well. As covered earlier this year, the title managed to sell over 20 million copies across all platforms in just one year. FromSoftware is currently working on the game’s first expansion – Shadow of the Erdtree. This expansion is slated for a release in late 2023 or early 2024.
Here’s what we wrote about FromSoftware’s masterpiece in our launch review last year:
“With a huge open world to explore freely, new combat options, and massive enemy variety, Elden Ring may have been a very tough nut to crack for newcomers”, Francesco de Meo wrote. “Thankfully, this isn’t the case, as the game is the most accessible one yet by From Software, featuring short and to the point tutorials for its main mechanics and some welcome quality of life improvements. A few examples? More generous placement of the Sites of Graces, the new Bonfires, the introduction of the Stakes of Marika, more basic checkpoints that reduce the frustration of dying and having to get back to the point of defeat. More accessible, however, doesn’t mean easier. While it is true that many optional bosses can be trivialized by either going back to them after having leveled up and obtained better gear or by summoning spirits, the main bosses and some minor enemies can be challenging even at a high level, mostly due to their movesets or placement. As Elden Ring is all about freedom, players can decide how challenging the whole experience can be. If one were to go straight to the Legacy Dungeons, for example, and ignore everything else, things would be extremely challenging.”
