Ever wanted to own an Xbox in the shape of a mini fridge? Well, a Microsoft manager says the company is going to produce the product for real after the Xbox won a poll on Twitter for best brand.
“Now that Xbox won, we will move forward on our promise to make those Xbox Series X Mini Fridges,” tweeted Xbox general manager for marketing Aaron Greenberg on Friday.
Last month, Twitter kicked off a contest for best brand on the social media service, which was styled after the NCAA March Madness tournament. The 16 competitors included Xbox, Oreo, Airbnb and Bud Light, although PlayStation and Nintendo were conspicuously absent.
Through four rounds, users then got to vote on which brand has been the best. Xbox ended up beating Spotify, MTV, and the GEICO Gecko before meeting Skittles in the final matchup.
To rally support, Greenberg on Thursday then tweeted: “Help Xbox win this and we’ll put into production this year REAL XBOX SERIES X MINI FRIDGES! Yep, you read that right. Not an April Fools joke. Not clickbait.”
The tweet may have very well helped Xbox win the contest. During the final round, Xbox narrowly edged out Skittles for the best brand with 50.5 percent of the vote, which 341,731 users participated in.
Greenberg didn’t offer any details on when the mini fridge will be available or for what price. But Microsoft last month partnered with energy drink brand ZOA on creating a limited edition Xbox mini fridge, which the actor Dwayne Johnson promoted on social media.
The fridge looks exactly like an Xbox Series X console, and is about the same size too. Microsoft has been offering up the product, but only to 100 lucky winners in a contest that runs until June 2nd.
We’ve reached out to Microsoft and we’ll update the story if we hear back. Last year, the company also produced a full-size refrigerator, (pictured at the top article), which was designed after the Xbox Series X.
