Mixed reality games start-up MixRift has raised $1.6 million in a seven-week pre-seed investment round.
The start-up will use the funds to support and accelerate its efforts in developing and publishing in-demand mixed reality games.
Outsized Ventures, Underline Ventures, and SOSV participated in the round. MixRift aims to create games that are easy to pick up and are deeply immersive in order to make the genre as appealing as possible to the broadest possible audience.
Entering an untapped market
“We’re at the very beginning of what mixed reality could do for gamers. We know there is a huge untapped market, and our founding team knows what it takes to create the games that hook those players in. This puts us in a unique position to capitalise on the opportunity,” said MixRift CEO Bobby Voicu.
“This investment gives us the support we need to take that approach and demonstrates experienced, knowledgeable backers’ buy-in to our philosophy.”
MixRift is led by Voicu, a serial entrepreneur and XR influencer, along with games influencer and CPO David Pripas and CTO Andrei Vaduva.
