Israeli mobile developer Moon Active has reportedly laid off “dozens” of staff as part of an “organisational restructuring” effort.
According to CTech, the Coin Master maker has let go of employees in its home country Israel and across its worldwide locales. With approximately 2,500 staff in the company, Moon Active also operates in Belarus, Kyiv, Lithuania and Romania.
The company reported record revenues in 2024, having generated over $2 billion that year.
An industry trend
Organisational restructuring and strategic alignment have become pervasive terms in the modern games landscape, with thousands of developers having been laid off in recent years. 2025 has started much the same with the likes of Huuuge Games, Phoenix Labs and Ubisoft all letting go of staff.
Now Moon Active employees have also been impacted, according to reports, despite the company operating industry titan Coin Master – the hit social casino game with more than $6 billion in earnings to its name. According to Sensor Tower, the title has been installed more than 350 million times.
Furthermore, AppMagic data suggests Moon Active’s second-biggest game, Travel Town – Merge Adventure, picked up significant steam in 2024 when it earned almost $320 million in player spending. The title is now close to $500 million in lifetime player spending across 56 million downloads.
“The company has grown significantly in recent years, completing several mergers and acquisitions, and ended 2024 with record revenues exceeding $2 billion,” Moon Active stated.
“In the first quarter of 2025, an organisational restructuring was implemented to align the company’s structure with its strategy.”
Among those acquisitions, Moon Active took charge of Good Job Games’ Zen Match through a deal worth up to $150 million.
