The name ‘iPhone 12 mini’ was a late arrival on this year’s rumours scene, but it’s suddenly looking like a solid bet.
The same person who revealed the fourth-generation iPad Air has now published photos of silicone case stickers that seem to confirm the names of this autumn’s new iPhone models, MacRumors reports. And according to these pictures, the 5.4in model will indeed be called the iPhone 12 mini (with a lower-case m), while the standard 6.1in model will be named the iPhone 12.

As for the more expensive 6.1in and 6.7in models, these will be called iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max respectively, which is logical considering that they succeed the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
This theory had previously been espoused by the well-known technology leaker L0vetodream, and this additional evidence leads us to believe that the information is correct.
Apple has not used the Mini branding for iPhone before, but we have seen it used in other products such as the iPod mini, iPad mini and Mac mini.
(A point of extremely mild interest is that, unlike suffixes such as Air, Pro and Max, the word mini is nearly always uncapitalised, perhaps to reflect the products’ smallness. It will be interesting to see if Apple sticks with this policy on the iPhone 12.)
