Netflix is investing billions in creating original content to ensure there’s always something new to watch to justify that monthly fee. However, with all the other content available on the streaming platform, it seems Netflix wants to more easily highlight its own content and is therefore developing something called “N-Plus.”
As Protocol reports, the first evidence of N-Plus appeared via a survey sent out to users with the questions focused on content and features. The survey includes the line, “N-Plus is a future online space where you can learn more about the Netflix shows you love and anything related to them,” which sounds like Netflix is working on a website focused on its own content.
The survey also mentions podcasts, how-tos, and user-generated playlists, suggesting N-Plus could end up being a portal where subscribers can interact, share information about the content they love, and grow a community around it. In return, Netflix benefits from more engagement with its shows, and hopefully more opportunity to grow its audience.
For now, Netflix isn’t talking about N-Plus, but it’s something that could appear in the future and perhaps alongside the launch of an important show on the service, for example, the next season of Stranger ThingsStranger Things, which always creates a huge amount of discussion on social media.
