Netgear is expanding its range of tri-band Wi-Fi 6E routers this week with the Nighthawk RAXE300.
The RAXE300 builds on the success of the Nighthawk RAXE500 released in April 2021. This latest router incorporates Netgear’s proprietary Wi-Fi optimization and takes advantage of six antennas hidden in the router’s “wings.” The end result is a wireless router capable of serving eight Wi-Fi streams simultaneously across the 6GHz, 5GHz, and 2.4GHz bands.
As well as offering a single 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port for connection to network-attached storage or some other device than can take full advantage of the available wired speed, the RAXE300 includes five Gigabit Ethernet ports. However, if you don’t like wires, don’t worry. Netgear says the RAXE300 can serve homes up to 2,500 square feet in size using its wireless signal.
Netgear intends to release the Nighthawk RAXE300 router in the first quarter of 2022 with a retail price of $399.99. Support for Wi-Fi 6E means this router should serve your home for several years before another upgrade is required, which may help you decide whether spending $400 on a router is worth it.
