Netmarble Games‘ Solo Leveling: Arise has passed $100 million in gross revenue just three months after it launched.
According to figures from Sensor Tower, the game’s debut in May 2024 saw it land as the #1 hack-and-slash game, #2 action game, and #14 mobile game worldwide by revenue on App Stores as it since went on to outperform games such as PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Clash of Clans.
This success highlights the IP’s ability to transition fans between different mediums and attract new audiences. Although its monthly revenue has since declined, the game has now surpassed $100 million in total earnings.
South Korea leads revenue
Solo Leveling: Arise has seen significant success in South Korea, where players account for 33% of total revenue, the largest share globally. This aligns with the IP’s South Korean origins and setting as the game is based on a popular web novel turned Korean webtoon turned anime.
The US is the second highest grossing region, contributing 19% of sales.
Asia has been a major contributor to downloads, with India and Indonesia leading, while the US, Brazil, and South Korea rank #3, #4, and #5 in downloads respectively.
A Niko Partners report also highlights that over 90% of South Korean gamers now play games across multiple platforms, driven by a 30% year-over-year increase in mobile gamers also playing on consoles.
